As for the note about the reverb, I don’t believe there is any, it may just be an issue with our recording setup. We’ll see what we can do for next episode.

Jason Calacanis is absolutely correct. It doesn’t make sense that you have to pay money to get money (not counting the lottery), or worse, pay money and not even get money out of it.

On the topic of colleges: In my family and in my social circles, the accepted tradition is to go to college. I believe my parents and grandparents all went to local colleges in my hometown New York Metro area. Right now, I am taking one year off to study religion in Jerusalem, Israel, but following this year I fully intend to attend CUNY (City University of New York) Queens College with a major in Computer Science.

It’s the time of your life. You’re young, have energy, and don’t yet have a family to raise. It would be very difficult to take off four years later on in your life and go out to learn from professors who (presumably, and typically) have years experience in various subject matters. Knowledge is power, and the right college can give you the power you need to succeed and excel.

Finally, for a technical request, please do not add reverb to the final MP3. It’s distracting to listen to, and adds further distracting white noise.

Going to college also helps you figure out precisely what you want to do. You might think that you’ve already decided what to do with the rest of your life, and you might already know people working higher up. People who will give you a job. The fact of the matter is, though, that everyone has to start somewhere, and even if you think you’ve got the experience to make it on your own, the hands-on experience that you get in college isn’t at all like the hands-on experience that you get elsewhere.

I went into college knowing that I was going to get my BA in Literature, become a certified English teacher, study GT education, and eventually become a GT administrator–maybe even throw in some educational IT stuff along the way. After two and a half years–I’m actually quite close to starting my teaching internship–I’m filling out transfer applications to far-away colleges that have Anthropology and Linguistics departments. College is crazy like that.
